天然Protein A是一种金黄色葡萄球菌的细胞壁成分，由一条多肽链组成，几乎不含碳水化合物。Recombinant Protein A是在大肠杆菌中表达产生且功能与天然蛋白A基本相同的重组蛋白，其上包含5个E-D-A-B-C串联排列组成的IgG结合结构域，可实现对IgG Fc片段的超强特异性亲和作用，从而减少非特异性吸附。
Protein A可作为亲和配基被偶联到基质上，特异性的结合样品中的抗体分子，而使其他杂蛋白流穿，常用于单抗或多抗的纯化等方面。蛋白A结合人、小鼠和大鼠IgG亚类（例如，人IgG1、IgG2、IgG4；小鼠IgG2a、IgG2b、IgG3；大鼠IgG2c）以及兔、豚鼠、猪、狗和猫的总IgG（具体参数见Table 1）。
本产品为经过优化过的具有更高稳定性的Protein A可溶性重组蛋白，分子量约37.05 kDa（SDS-PAGE）。Protein A与IgG在pH 8.2时有最佳结合，同时在中性或者生理条件下（pH 7.0-7.6）也能很好的结合（具体参数见Table 2）。
