细胞学常规染色中,巴氏(Papanicolaou)法被广泛采用。起初,Papanicolaou Stain主要用于检测阴道上皮的雌激素水平以及生殖道中的念珠菌、滴虫等病原体。橘黄G6与EA36或EA50的组合使用,能够将胞浆染成鲜明色彩的绿色、蓝色和粉色,使得染色后的胞质更为鲜艳、透明性更佳,同时核膜、核仁、染色质结构也清晰可见。巴氏染色液特别适用于细胞脱落标本的染色,此时细胞核会呈现为蓝色或黑色,而角化鳞状细胞的胞浆则会呈现为粉红或橘红色。
巴氏染色液(Papanicolaou EA36)细胞质染色采用 EA36 染液,而细胞核的染色则选用无毒且经过改良的苏木素染色液。相较于EA50,EA36更适用于妇科细胞学涂片的染色,例如筛查宫颈癌和癌前病变。
